Abstract

Much research that combines fuzzy set theories and inventory management have been published since these theories were developed throughout the years. However, there isn’t a thorough and organized literature review that examines the studies in this field of study. It inspired me to carry out the survey in a systematic way. This paper presents a comprehensive approach to inventory management in the sportswear sector. Initially, a mathematical model is introduced to determine total costs associated with inventory systems under uncertain conditions. Subsequently, the study explores inventory problems within a fuzzy environment, deriving fuzzy total inventory cost functions for these models. These models are illustrated with numerical examples, accompanied by sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of fuzziness on total inventory costs. Furthermore, unlike conventional stochastic inventory models focusing solely on uncertain demand, this system addresses potential fluctuations in demand due to seasonality and ever-changing fashion trends, and it is also a common challenge across various sportswear industries.
